This is close to being a five star. However is proved to be a near miss. Estelle Hurll is an accomplished academic who lived from 1863 to 1924 and her work is well worth study. I completely appreciate her efforts.Titian is a very great 16th century artist of what is known as The Venetian Scool of The Italian Renaissance. My favorite work of Titian, at least as far as I know, is "The Assumption of The Virgin Mary". The "as far as I know" is partially the point. I want to study Titian more and was excited to come upon this fine academic work for free on Kindle.I have had a lot of good experiences with Kindle works for free. I downloaded this and could not open a single picture. I would be lying if I did not admit that was a huge disappointment. Oh well...I had been largely uneducated in terms of "The Arts". I have set out to correct that. I love Titian and am studying his work. What I was able to do was correlate the narrative of this book with pictures otherwise available including on the internet. I am also able to correlate this work with a lecture I have on a DVD about art. In the event that it matters I am studying "The Great Courses" and the lectures of Professor William Kloss. Therefore my experience is not precisely the same as the other reviewer's, but I completely get the point. As far as a device, I used an I Pad. Thank You...
